Broadcaster Karen Davila and celebrities Bea Binene and Richard Juan praised “The Jessica Soho Presidential Interviews” aired yesterday, Jan. 22, noting how the segment was necessary to help the public decide in choosing the right candidate.

GMA Network’s “The Jessica Soho Presidential Interviews” featured the 2022 presidential aspirants namely: Vice President Leni Robredo, Sen. Panfilo Lacson, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and Sen. Manny Pacquiao. The candidates sat down with broadcaster Jessica Soho, and were questioned about the controversies they had faced, as well as the pressing issues in the country.

Davila pointed out that the questions asked during the interview “revealed” the character of the candidates, as per her Twitter page today, Jan.23. She then stressed how such interviews help voters in choosing who they will support and vote for.

“The questions centered on revealing the true character of the candidate. Kaya po mahalaga na mag-pa interview sa mga mamamahayag (That’s why it’s important to be interviewed by journalists),” she said. “The presidency is not only about competence [and] vision but also about character. Interviews with journalists help peel the layers for voters to get to know candidates.”

Binene, for her part, praised Soho and her team for producing the segment, while stressing the importance of knowing the candidates’ takes on pressing issues, via her Twitter page yesterday.

Ma’am Jessica Soho, everybody. Hats off to the whole GMA News and Public Affairs team who made this interview possible,” the actress stated.” Sobrang important na mapanood at malaman natin ang opinion at mga sagot ng mga presidentiables, para sa Pilipinas ‘to.” (It is important to watch and to know the opinions and answers of the presidential candidates. This is for the Philippines.)

Juan, meanwhile, noted how the interview personally helped him know more about the presidential candidates, as per his Twitter page yesterday. He then expressed his respect to the presidential candidates for showing up and facing the questions like a “real leader.”

I gotta say, this [The Jessica Soho Presidential Interview] truly helped me understand each [candidate] a lot more. Huge respect to the [four] presidential candidates that showed up and faced these tough questions! Signs of a real leader,” the TV personality said.

All I can say is the [The Jessica Soho Presidential Interview] showed us the true character of all five leading candidates. Yes, all FIVE,” he added.

Former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. declined to participate in the said interview, citing Soho’s alleged bias against the Marcoses. GMA network then responded to these allegations by clearing Soho’s name, asserting that the “questions are tough because the job of the presidency is tough.” JB
