Lea Salonga dismayed over sold out BTS merchandise: ‘ARMY didn’t stand a chance’
Lea Salonga expressed her disappointment after failing to buy BTS merchandise that she set her eyes on, noting that the items might have gone to sellers who had “no regard” for the K-pop boy group.
The singer and Broadway actress admitted that she was heartbroken over missing the merchandise, via a series of posts on her Twitter page yesterday, Jan. 11. She described the race to getting the items as a “bloodbath,” since the merchandise sold out quickly.
“Sigh… I didn’t make it. The bloodbath was real, everything sold out in less than [one] minute! So excuse me, I’m just going to cry in a corner to get over this heartbreak,” she said.
Salonga seemed to have tried to purchase the Mute Boston bag designed by BTS’s V, as she showed a photo of the item on her Twitter page last Sunday, Jan. 9.

Salonga also told fellow fans about her dismay over supposed sellers who managed to get the merchandise and made them “inaccessible” to the BTS’ fandom, called the BTS ARMY.

Salonga added that she has learned she should limit her purchases of BTS merchandise to only the items that have been in the official shop for “a while.”
“Ugh, I’m still super irritated right now. What was the point of bringing the price point down if only for bots to allegedly auto-buy and make the items inaccessible to fans?” she said.

I’ve learned my lesson and will limit my merch purchases to items that have been in the shop for a while. Ugh, I’m still super irritated right now. What was the point of bringing the price point down if only for bots to allegedly auto-buy and make the items inaccessible to fans?

V’s self-designed bag is part of the “Artist-Made Collection by BTS,” which also include other items such as wind chimes, brooches and necklaces that members of the South Korean boy group designed for their fans. /ra
