Andi Eigenmann has admitted that she is having a tough time emotionally after super typhoon Odette wreaked havoc on her family’s home island Siargao.
The actress, who was in Manila when Odette made landfall on Siargao last month, talked about how her family is dealing with the aftermath of the typhoon while showing photos of them together on her Instagram page today, Jan. 7.
“Been having a tough time assessing how I feel but I [realize, never mind] that for now because after all of life’s uncertainty, there’s still so much to be grateful for,” she said.
Eigenmann added that while her children do not consider the place they have outside Siargao as “home,” being with her fiancé, celebrity surfer Philmar Alipayo, made the situation better.
“My kids know for sure this is not ‘home,’ but having both of us around somehow makes everything better,” she told fans.
She then disclosed that Alipayo will be returning to Siargao, and she is happy knowing that he will be able to help those affected on the island.
Eigenmann also gave fans a glimpse of Alipayo’s efforts to give aid to Siargao by showing a house that he helped rebuild, as seen on her Instagram Story, also today.
“The house papa and the boys worked on before he went to Manila. He’ll be flying home soon with more materials to help rebuild more homes using the earnings we got from our December YouTube videos and [from] our dear friends who were kind enough to donate,” she said.

Eigenmann earlier showed the devastation on the resort island, including a road that leads to where her family lives. While the actress is relieved that her loved ones are safe, she stressed that Siargao will need some time before it can go back to normal.
The couple also earlier announced that they would donate the earnings from their YouTube vlog “Happy Islanders” to help rebuild Siargao.
As of Jan. 1, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council recorded a death toll of 407 related to typhoon Odette. Meanwhile, 82 individuals are still missing and 1,147 were injured. /ra
