Miss Universe PH set to start screening for new queens in February
Miss Universe Philippines is set to start screening the new set of aspirants who will compete in the beauty pageant’s 2022 edition.
The Miss Universe Philippines Organization announced that it will start the screening this February, as per its Instagram page yesterday, Jan. 3.
“Another year, another set of queens! The most prestigious pageant in the country will start its screening in February 2022. Get your profiles and papers ready, aspiring queens!” it stated while teasing that the organization is “brewing something phenomenal.”
The 2022 edition of the local pageant will be held this coming April.

The organization is yet to announce further details regarding requirements. Meanwhile, some of the 2021 pageant requirements were:

- A Philippine passport holder
- No height requirement
- Female, never been married nor had borne children
The Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. chose the Philippines’ bet in the global pageant for more than five decades until it parted ways with the Miss Universe Organization in December 2019. The separate organization, Miss Universe Philippines, has since been established for choosing a representative to the international pageant.
The winner of the 2022 edition will be the third representative of the country under the new organization, which is headed by Miss Universe 2011 third runner-up Shamcey Supsup. The new queen will be following the footsteps of Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo and Miss Universe 2021 top 5 finalist Beatrice Luigi Gomez. /ra
