Miss Philippines Beatrice Luigi Gomez extended her congratulations to the newly crowned Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu, doing so with a hug after the coronation event.
The moment between the two beauty queens was captured by Miss Universe Philippines creative director Jonas Gaffud and shown on his Instagram Story yesterday, Dec. 13.
Gomez, who finished in the competition’s top 5, hugged the Indian beauty queen and said she and the other delegates were very proud of her.
“Nandita (Miss Singapore), Sujita (Miss Nepal) and I were very proud of you,” Gomez told Sandhu.
“Oh, I love you,” Sandhu responded. Gomez said the same to Sandhu in return and asked if she had talked to her family since she won, to which Sandhu answered affirmatively.
“I did but you know, since day one, I’ve been so fond of you and you know that,” Sandhu added.

Gomez made history as the first member of the LGBTQ+ community to represent the Philippines in the competition, which was held in Eilat, Israel, yesterday, Dec. 13.
Sandhu was crowned by Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza in the beauty pageant’s finals yesterday. Nadia Ferreira of Paraguay was named first runner-up and Lalela Mswane of South Africa placed second runner-up. /ra
