Miss World Philippines 2021 Tracy Maureen Perez showed off the beauty of local mythology in her national costume a few days after she secured a spot in the pageant’s top 30.
Perez looked regal and mythical as she gave fans a glimpse of her national costume designed by Axel Que on her Instagram page today, Dec. 14. The portraits were taken by Mark Neto Diaz and Larlo Ray.
The colorful ensemble shows Perez in a purple, green and white full-body piece embellished with flowers, tassels and pearls. It also features jewelry made by Christopher Munar and shoes by Jojo Bragais.
Que, who also created the national costume of Miss Universe 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez, said his new creation for Perez was inspired by the mythological creature Mayari.
“Mayari. Moon Goddess and daughter of Bathala. Hailed as the most beautiful deity, she has complete dominion of the world at night,” he said.
Perez is currently in Puerto Rico to compete in the Miss World pageant. She recently secured a spot in the contest’s top 30 after winning its head to head challenge last Friday, Dec. 10.
The coronation night for Miss World will take place on Dec. 16 (Dec. 17 in the Philippines). Perez is hoping to be the second woman to take home the Miss World crown, following Miss World 2013 Megan Young. /ra
