Nadine Lustre is open to an amicable settlement with Viva Artists Agency amid the ongoing legal battle on her contract.

The actress, who was ordered by a court last June to honor her agreement with Viva, is currently in negotiations to put an end to the “legal controversies” hounding her contract with the agency. This was confirmed by her lawyers Gideon Peña and Eirene Jhone Aguila in a statement on Peña’s Twitter page today, Nov. 3.

“While Nadine is confident about the strength of her legal position, she remains open to amicably settling with Viva and proceeding under terms that are fair and mutually beneficial,” the attorneys stated.

“Like Viva, Nadine looks forward to continuing to provide quality entertainment to audiences both local and across the globe,” Peña and Aguila added.

Lustre, who has been with Viva since 2009, was sued by the company last year for allegedly breaching her exclusive contract, which is supposed to end by 2029. She has been “self-managed” since January 2020 and directly looking after her own affairs.

The Quezon City Regional Trial Court ruled last June that Lustre cannot “unilaterally terminate her contract” with Viva and has to honor her agreement with the agency.

After leaving Viva, the actress has focused on her singing career and released her visual album “Wildest Dreams” in October 2020.

Meanwhile, she is set to star in a new Viva Entertainment project, as teased by filmmaker Yam Laranas last month. She recently attended a virtual script reading with actors Diego Loyzaga and Epy Quizon, for what appeared to be a Viva Films and Viva Max production.  /ra
