Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla’s fans in India are about to be treated to local remakes of the love team’s hit films, as ABS-CBN signed a deal for the movies to be adapted for Bollywood.
The films that will be remade for an Indian audience are “She’s Dating The Gangster,” “Crazy Beautiful You,” “Barcelona: A Love Untold,” “Can’t Help Falling In Love” and “The Hows of Us,” as per a release by Star Magic on its Instagram page last Friday, Oct. 15.
The adaptations are part of ABS-CBN Film Productions’ agreement with India’s Global One Studios. All movies are expected to introduce “new and talented Indian love teams to Bollywood.”
This is the first time that Filipino films will be remade in India, according to Global One Studios’ president Ramesh Krishnamoorthy.
“Family bonding and cultural values are common to both Philippines and India, which are captured seamlessly in their films,” Krishnamoorthy said. “This will be the first time that five Filipino films will be remade in India and we are excited to join hands with ABS-CBN to showcase their relationship stories with the same [intense emotions] through our films.”
The Indian adaptation deal comes after Bernardo and Padilla, known as KathNiel, celebrated the 10th anniversary of their pairing last month.
The couple released a self-made documentary “KathNiel: Isang Dekada” to mark the occasion. They are also set to appear in the new series “2 Good 2 Be True” for their TV comeback. JB
