Planned sitcom with John Lloyd would be a ‘nice change of pace’ for Andrea
While Andrea Torres is aware that there are rumors floating around that she will be part of John Lloyd Cruz’s planned sitcom on GMA 7, the actress is not about to count her chickens before they hatch.
“I have to see an official announcement from the network regarding that. I have heard of the talks and seen the news items. But it’s hard to claim something until a story conference or taping actually happens,” she pointed out in a recent virtual conference for her contract renewal with GMA Artist Center.
Just the same, Andrea is excited about the idea of working with John Lloyd.
“I was happy when I heard the rumors because I’m a fan of John Lloyd. I hope it materializes because you don’t get an opportunity like this often,” she said, adding that doing a sitcom would be a nice change of pace.
“I’m sure I will learn a lot working with John Lloyd and that it will be a good experience. It would also be nice to show another side of me in a sitcom, where you can be more playful or spontaneous,” she said. “I have experienced comedy in ‘Bubble Bang,’ but I haven’t fully explored it.”

Meanwhile, Andrea maintained that she’s currently in high spirits, despite the personal challenges she went through in the past year, including her breakup with ex-boyfriend Derek Ramsay.
“I try to focus on the positive … bright side. I want to think that there’s a better plan for me and I’m being led there,” she said. “I wake up feeling light. I don’t hold grudges, which is key to having a positive outlook.”
Sources of strength
The 31-year-old actress is also thankful to her loved ones for being her sources of strength.
“My friends and family make sure to lift me up whenever they see me feeling sad. They push me and cheer me up,” she said. “I’m grateful to the entertainment press for being understanding and for giving me time, space and privacy.”
Is she now open to dating again?
“Yes, I should always have time for that. And if it comes, why not?” she said. “I already have an idea what a perfect romantic partner would be like. But, of course, you won’t always get what you want. Anyway, I think that’s still far away.”
For now, it’s all about her career.
“I’m super happy because I have been very busy this year. I prayed for more projects, because I want to make up for the time we lost last year,” said Andrea, one of the lead stars of the GMA 7 series “Legal Wives.” “I’m in my happiest when I’m working.”
There are already projects lined up for her after “Legal Wives,” she said, and some of them she probably wouldn’t have accepted in the past.
“There are roles and projects I have never done before, and I think the fans will be surprised … I’m now more open to challenges because I have grown more in touch with myself. It’s clear now what I can and can’t do,” she said.
“The pressure to deliver is there all the time, so I just try to use that as inspiration to do my job well, push myself, and make viewers happy,” added Andrea, who has never thought of transferring to other networks.
“I never thought of that because the guidance of the network and our bosses goes beyond work. That humbles me because they do things for me that they don’t need to,” she said.
