Former “Unang Hirit” host Rhea Santos recently finished a two-year program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in Canada.

Santos, who is based in Vancouver, shared her graduation photos with fans via Instagram on July 29 to announce her recent milestones.

“Hey #dguzboys, we did it! You’ve driven me to have courage, inspired me to go forward and have always loved me unconditionally. This is also for loved ones in the Philippines and in California who would have wanted to share this milestone with me,” Santos said.

“Knowing that you are all in good health is the best gift you can give as my family positively yearns for the day we can all be together again,” she added.

Santos, who took up Broadcast and Online Journalism at BCIT, works at the Filipino newscast of Canadian television broadcaster OMNI Television.

She moved to Canada in 2019 after around 19 years of working in the television broadcasting industry in the Philippines.

“To my fellow graduates of 2021, to fellow #Filipino international student graduates, we rocked it amidst the global #pandemic. Celebrating with you,” Santos said.

Santos also shared a photo of her wearing her graduate cap, seemingly at home with her kids, via her latest Instagram post made yesterday, July 30.

“The cap on my head means more to me than finishing a diploma course. It’s about starting over without knowing what’s next or if we’ve made the right decision,” the journalist said.

“It’s being fearful of the uncertain but you wake up each day and tell yourself, “you can do this.” It’s the reminder of my heart that beats to my ‘why,'” she added.

“To #love is, indeed, the bravest of all things. You discover a strength that overcomes fear and moves mountains. To all mom and dad #2021 grads, whatever your reasons are for going back to school, you deserve to be celebrated,” Santos emphasized.  /ra
