BTOB’s Lee Minhyuk has tested positive for COVID-19 while on a precautionary self-quarantine, after taking two previous tests that came back negative for the virus.

Minhyuk’s agency Cube Entertainment confirmed the K-pop idol’s diagnosis through a statement to Newsen via Soompi yesterday, July 17.

The agency narrated that Minhyuk first underwent testing for COVID-19 after his vocal teacher was diagnosed positive with the virus last Wednesday, July 14. Minhyuk then went into self-quarantine as a safety measure and in accordance with government guidelines.

Minhyuk took both a rapid antigen test and a PCR test before isolating himself. Both tests came back negative for the virus but he showed signs of a fever and coughs by July 16, which pushed him to visit a health center.

Cube Entertainment assured fans that Minhyuk is getting rest and “taking necessary measures” to recover from the virus. The agency also vowed that it will “do [its] best so that he (Minhyuk) recovers quickly.”

“[We] apologize for causing concern to many people. We will follow health guidelines and do our utmost to ensure our artists’ health and safety,” the agency added.

BTOB is a six-member K-pop boy group known for the songs “Beautiful Pain,” “It’s Okay” and “Missing You,” among others. They debuted under Cube Entertainment in early 2012. Dana Cruz/JB
