Juris could not help feeling giddy and having goosebumps after she was praised by pop duo Swing Out Sister’s Andy Connell.
“She’s doing a splendid job. Whoever wrote that song must feel very proud,” Connell said as he posted a video showing Juris singing Swing Out Sister’s 1989 track “You on My Mind” onstage, on his Facebook page on Tuesday, July 6. The video was also posted on the duo’s Facebook page.
Connell had apparently made some research about Juris as he said, “I’ve now discovered that she’s called Juris Fernandez and is apparently a massive star in the Philippines.”
Juris thanked Connell and Swing Out Sister for their praise and told them that she was their “huge fan.”
“Oh wow! #goosebumps. Thank you so much for this and for your kind words,” she said. “My sister and I are huge fans! We watched and [enjoyed your concert a lot] the last time you were here in Manila.”
Swing Out Sister then responded to Juris, telling her she did a “great performance” and they were “honored” to hear her sing their song.
“The global power of music is bringing us together even if we can’t be there,” they stated.
Swing Out Sister, composed of Connell and Corinne Drewery, is a 1980s British music duo known for defining the genre “sophisti-pop.” Some of their hit songs include “Breakout,” “Surrender” and “Twilight World.” /ra
