Ruru Madrid is taking a short break after he sustained a hamstring injury while doing an action stunt for his GMA TV series “Lolong.”
“Kahapon, habang nagte-taping para sa ‘Lolong,’ I was giving it my all — full speed — then suddenly, pop,” the actor narrated through his Instagram page on Tuesday, April 1. “My leg gave out, and I couldn’t continue.”
“Got rushed to the hospital, and the doctor confirmed I pulled my hamstring,” he continued, saying he underwent MRI and had yet to receive the result. “Praying na hindi ito Grade 3 strain, which means a full tear that could take weeks or even months to recover.”
Madrid underscored that more than the physical pain, it pains him that he has to take a break from taping.
“All I could think about was my team, the scenes we still have to finish, and how much I wanted to push through. But that’s the reality of doing action — sometimes, your body reminds you that you’re only human,” he said.
Madrid nonetheless vowed that he would overcome this setback through the help of those who have been caring for him, including his actress girlfriend Bianca Umali.
“Challenges like this don’t break me—they build me. This is just a pause, not the end,” he said. “Despite everything, I will forever be grateful to God. His plans are always greater than mine, and I trust in His timing and purpose.”
“This is just part of the journey. And trust me, I’m coming back stronger. See you soon,” the actor concluded.
