K-pop girl group Red Velvet is expected to treat its fans with new music soon, through its comeback album set for release in August.
Red Velvet’s agency, SM Entertainment, confirmed the group’s long-awaited comeback through South Korean news outlet Newsen yesterday, June 9.
“Red Velvet is preparing for a new album with the goal of a comeback in August. Please look forward to it,” the agency was quoted as saying.
After the announcement, several Red Velvet-related phrases immediately trended on Twitter, with “RED VELVET AUGUST COMEBACK” taking the top spot on the platform’s Philippine trends list.
The said August comeback is Red Velvet’s first appearance as a full group after one year and eight months. Their latest release is their repackaged album “The ReVe Festival Finale” in December 2019, with the lead single “Psycho.”
Some members of the group have gone to perform as solo acts during Red Velvet’s hiatus. Wendy released her solo debut “Like Water” last April, while Joy also announced preparations for a remake album last month.
Red Velvet started as a girl group in 2014. It is known for its hits “Red Flavor,” “Russian Roulette” and “Power Up,” among others. Dana Cruz/JB
