Isabelle Daza is facing criticism for supposedly using vaccines as a “social status” after she wore a cap saying she received a jab of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

The actress and her husband Adrien Semblat can be seen posing with the said statement caps that read “vaccinated by Pfizer,” in a now-deleted photo from her Instagram page, posted on Tuesday, June 8. The couple received the vaccine in Hong Kong, where they are currently based.

Although Daza has removed the photo from her page, netizens did not take her donning the statement cap lightly and posted screenshots of it, accusing Daza of using the vaccines as a way to brag about her privileges.

One @peluddinn pointed out that Daza’s Instagram post was “problematic” because the couple’s vaccination status was presented to the public which cannot pick the Pfizer COVID-19 jab. The couple’s showing of their photo was described as giving “emphasis on their privileges to have access to a brand of vaccine,” calling Daza’s post a “plain stupid of a flex.”

Another netizen, @gio_giomezza, noted that Daza was using the vaccine as a “social status” and reminded people about the importance of getting vaccinated as soon as possible.

“Not Isabelle Daza making vaccination a social status,” he said. “Remember guys, the best vaccine is the one which is available.”

Meanwhile, one @hotgirlzizek noted that the caps were in “poor taste,” especially to a Filipino fanbase that does not have access to Pfizer vaccines.

“Supposedly for a good cause but in really poor taste considering they’re flaunting getting a vaccine that isn’t even available where most of their fanbase is,” she said.

Daza has also drawn criticism for a hat-related issue in the past, when she poked fun at African children while fitting head accessories for a vacation. She apologized for her remarks and said that she would be more careful about what she shows to her fans online.

The Department of Health pushed for a “brand agnostic” COVID-19 vaccination program, after crowds flooded Metro Manila vaccination centers for limited doses of Pfizer jabs last month. This was out of fear of creating a superspreader event among people who prefer a certain brand. JB
