Kris Aquino on son Josh’s 26th birthday: ‘He helped me grow up’

Kris Aquino marked her son Josh’s 26th birthday by reflecting on her journey as a mother, saying that her eldest son “helped her grow up” in many ways.
“June 4, 1995, I was so not ready to be a mama. In many ways, kuya Josh helped me grow up,” Aquino said on her Instagram page on Friday, June 4. She also showed a video of volunteers giving away the grocery bags they donated to Tarlac residents as part of Josh’s birthday celebration.
Aquino noted that Josh would often get bullied because of his autism, but added that a lot of people still saw her son’s generosity, friendliness and sense of respect.
“‘Di hamak mas marami ang nagtanggol at nakaramdam ng pureness ng puso nya,” she stated. “For kuya, kung mabait ka at nagpakita ng kabutihan higit dun ang lambing at pagmamahal na isusukli nya.
(There were more people who defended [him] and felt the pureness of his heart. For kuya, as long as you’re kind and show that you’re kind, he will give back more tenderness and love to you.)

The Queen of All Media also thanked her fans for supporting her and giving her the chance to work again after she gave birth to her son.
“I’d like to consider that my true career started because you accepted me with all my flaws [and] strengths [four] months after I gave birth to my panganay (eldest),” she said. Aquino also vowed to continue to give back to her fans as they continue to give their support to her.
Aquino recently donated relief goods to Tarlac residents, after Josh has decided to permanently live in the province. She gave away 800 grocery bags with noodles, canned goods and crackers through the Tarlac local government. She also recently donated cash gifts to fellow mothers after her sons held a surprise Mother’s Day celebration for her.
Josh is Aquino’s son with actor Philip Salvador. Her youngest son Bimby, meanwhile, is her child with ex-husband, basketball star James Yap. JB
