Frankie Pangilinan denies skipping lines to get COVID-19 vaccine
Frankie Pangilinan cleared her name amid allegations that she cut lines to get her COVID-19 vaccine in Makati City.
“[I] didn’t cut in line, [I] got a text from Makati [government] saying I qualified, so I went, [because] it’s the responsible thing to do,” the singer said through her Twitter account yesterday, May 24.
Pangilinan, who is the eldest daughter of veteran actress Sharon Cuneta with Sen. Francis “Kilo” Pangilinan, stressed that she did not want to make a “big deal” out of her getting the shot, pointing out that there are several health conditions that make a person qualified to get vaccinated. She also showed a video of her getting the jab last Thursday, May 20.
“When I got an asthma attack mid-PE in middle school and everybody made fun of me, I swore I would get back at them one day and here we are,” she stated.
Pangilinan added that she made a lighthearted quip about her getting a jab and wanted to be “transparent” about it. However, she lamented, even this was “misconstrued.”

Pangilinan admitted that she was initially hesitant about getting vaccinated because she thought about other people who would better qualify for the shot.
“I had my own initial qualms about going precisely [because] I thought [about the people] who might better qualify, but if we all think like that how are we ever going to achieve herd immunity?” she asked.

Pangilinan urged her followers to also get vaccinated against COVID-19 if they are qualified for it. She said getting the shot will not only be helpful for an individual but also protect the people around them. /ra
