Frankie Pangilinan called out a netizen who claimed that she causes her mother, Sharon Cuneta, to suffer from “intermittent anxiety attacks.”

Pangilinan, who disclosed that she has been suffering from clinical anxiety since she was 14, stressed that the netizen’s claim was untrue in a series of tweets on Oct. 18.

“[First] of all where have [you] been miss ma’am angst is the genetic code of this generation. [Secondly] wtf is wrong with [you],” Pangilinan said in a now-deleted reply.

“It’s just an observation. No need for that expression (wtf),” the netizen answered, prompting Pangilinan to reply: “you don’t publicize your convoluted assumptions about my mother’s mental health without me calling you out.”

“[I] don’t care what you think about me. [But] you don’t ever disrespect my mother like that — not by misrepresenting a very real mental health condition she doesn’t suffer from,” Pangilinan stressed.

In another tweet, Pangilinan clarified that her mother “doesn’t have anxiety attacks” and that “the misinformation is real.”

The Twitter user then claimed that “that’s not disrespect” and reiterated that it is just “an observation.” The netizen also added that “People do get anxiety attacks when there’s too much pressure.”

In a now-deleted tweet, Pangilinan reminded people: “do not ever diagnose a public figure you know nothing about” and “do not ever blame people for your own assumed views on mental health.”

“[Don’t] try to push a false narrative onto someone who has suffered from actual clinical anxiety since she was 14,” she added.

Other netizens also rushed to the defense of the mother-daughter duo, stressing that what @aprilfour was doing was “unethical” and that she cannot publicly diagnose someone’s mental health without being a registered medical practitioner and without conducting proper medical procedures.

“Mental health [condition] is one of those things you can’t properly observe from the lens of the internet. Not all observations should be aired out like that [especially] when you’re no expert on the subject. You’re just creating prejudices on a person’s mental health. Very irresponsible,” one @raindontgo said.

“Makadiagnose ng anxiety attack kala mo naman (You diagnose anxiety attacks as if you are a) registered medical practitioner who is professionally looking after Shawie’s mental state and has sufficient documentation to prove and gauge how much is ‘too much pressure,'” one @alexhirato13 meanwhile said.

Pangilinan, a known progressive internet personality, recently held a talk alongside Macoy Averilla, a.k.a. Macoy Dubs, at a virtual European Union summit titled “My Space, My Rights: Para sa Kabataan, Mula sa Kabataan, Isang Pagtitipon Para sa Karapatan.” JB
