Tony Labrusca admitted that it was a worrisome experience to contract the novel coronavirus alongside his co-stars during the lock-in taping for “Bagong Umaga.”

The showrunners, however, took good care of the stars and helped them recover quickly, Labrusca shared in the press conference for the “Bagong Umaga” finale yesterday, April 27.

“Nakakapraning siya kasi I had a friend who survived COVID and yung sinabi niya sa akin nung nag-recover na ako, ‘Tony, alam mo ba na ito na yung second life mo?'” the actor said.

(It was terrifying because I had a friend who survived COVID and who told me when I recovered, “Tony, do you know that this is your second life now?”)

“Kasi when people get COVID, it’s either they live or they die. Dalawa lang yun eh.’ So, parang, it’s crazy na kasama na ako sa statistics. Nakakapraning siya but I’m just really grateful that I recovered really fast,” he added.

(Because when people get COVID, it’s either they live or they die. There are only two ways. So, it’s crazy that I am now part of the statistics. It was terrifying, but I’m just really grateful that I recovered really fast.)

Labrusca also shared that he experienced several symptoms such as body pains, fever and coughs. He then tested negative on his 12th day in quarantine.

Labrusca’s “Bagong Umaga” co-stars who also battled COVID-19 were Sunshine Cruz, Nikki Valdez, Heaven Peralejo, Barbie Imperial and Keempee de Leon, all of whom have likewise already recovered.

The actor also emphasized that they were all “handling it like a family” as the production team actively made sure the actors were getting proper medication and recovering safely.  /ra
