Veteran anchor Ted Failon has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, he announced in a statement released today, March 30.

Failon got tested yesterday morning, March 29, a day after learning that one of his co-workers at Radyo5 had been infected, he said in the statement shared by fellow anchor DJ Chacha via Twitter.

“[This] co-worker of mine identified me as a close contact. As soon as I heard the news, I immediately put myself in self-isolation and decided to have myself tested the morning of March 29th,” he said.

After receiving results saying he was positive late night yesterday, Failon, who is asymptomatic, had placed himself in home quarantine and informed close contacts of his condition.

“I am praying that I do not develop any symptom and if at all possible, I can continue working from home, via any communication means that is achievable, given the current state I am in,” he shared.

“This serves as a reminder to everyone that even in the midst of strictly following the health protocols, the probability of the virus infecting us is still high,” Failon stressed.

He then urged the public to be extra cautious and “take all necessary precautions to ensure our safety and the safety of our families.”

DJ Chacha meanwhile shared in the caption that Failon is currently in good condition and asked the public for prayers.
