Comedienne and businesswoman Pokwang slammed bashers insulting her looks over her opinions on issues, noting that her looks are what made her successful today.

Pokwang, whose real name is Marietta Subong, minced no words as she called out people who resort to ad hominem when disagreeing with others’ views, as seen on Twitter yesterday, March 23.

“[Halata] mo mga BOBO kapag ang atake na sa opinyon mo ay personal nandyan ang tawagin kang pangit, chaka, etc.,” Pokwang tweeted.

(You can tell who are stupid when their attack on your opinion gets personal: they will call you ugly, chaka, etc.)

“Excuse me ang kapangitan ko ang nagpaganda sa buhay ng pamilya ko at mga nagtatrabaho sa aking negosyo na binubuhay ang pamilya nila na natulungan ng kapangitan ko e ikaw?”

(Excuse me, my ugliness is what helped me provide a good life for my family and those who work for my businesses, who are likewise able to help their own families all because of my ugliness. How about you?)

While she did not drop any specific name, Pokwang just the day before called out some netizens after they criticized her for posting negative things about the pandemic-induced lockdown.

For one, a Twitter user told Pokwang that she lost respect for her because of her negative comments on the government and for “turning into a political analyst.”

“[Lahat] ng Pilipino may karapatang mag labas ng saloobin lalo na kung pamilyado kang tao! [Neng, Pilipino] ako!! [Ikaw] ba? [May] pamilya [ka na] ba na apektado ng pandemiang ito? [Isa] kana bang ina? [Ina] man o ama o hindi pa lahat tayo apektado kapag mali ang nangyayare! Boses ko ito paki mo!” Pokwang stresed.

(All Filipinos have the right to express what they feel, especially when they have families! Child, I am a Filipino! How about you? Do you have a family affected by this pandemic? Are you a mother? Whether you are a mother or a father or neither, we are all affected when something wrong happens! This is my voice, what do you care?)

The Twitter user’s remark was a reply to Pokwang’s tweet on March 22 taking a swipe at the general community quarantine bubble, which read, “NCR- plus with ginkgo biloba shirota strain!!! plus glutathione”

After another netizen tried to shut Pokwang down and told her to just be a “law-abiding citizen,” Pokwang fired back: “So yung tax na binabayad ko hindi ako nakakatulong? G*GO (So with the tax that I am paying, I am still not helping? B*stard)!!!!”

“[Magkaiba] po ang masunurin sa uto utong TANGA (Being obedient is different from being a gullible idiot)!!!!!!” Pokwang then stressed in the following tweet.

Pokwang was among those who showed support for Liza Soberano‘s recent tweets calling on the government to provide aid to poor Filipino families amid the lockdown.  / ra
