Filipina theater actress and singer Rachelle Ann Go is set to reprise her role as Fantine in the upcoming “Les Misérables” Europe and Australia tour.
Go recently took to Instagram to share the news of her return. She accompanied her post with a picture of her as Fantine and an art card of the new cast members.
“Here we go again,” she captioned her post. “I am so excited to play Fantine for the arena tour in Australia next year.”
The “Les Misérables: The Arena World Tour” will run in Europe and Australia in 2025. Go will alternate with English actress Katie Hall for the role of Fantine.
Go previously played the role in the “Les Misérables” tours in the UK, Ireland and London during the 30th anniversary concert in 2021.
Set in 19th-century France, “Les Misérables” follows Jean Valjean, a former convict imprisoned for stealing bread for his starving family.
Alongside Valjean’s journey, the story also follows Fantine, a woman who is forced to entrust her daughter, Cosette, to the cruel Thénardier family due to poverty.
For the upcoming tour, Peter Jöback and Milan van Waardenburg will alternate for the role of Jean Valjean, the main protagonist.
Aside from the aforementioned, other cast members will include Nathania Ong and Aviva Tulley as Eponine, Linzi Hateley and Marina Prior as Madame Thenarder, Tommy Korberg and Hans Peter Janssens as Bishop of Digne, and Matt Lucas as Thenadier.
Meanwhile, Go returned to her role as Eliza in “Hamilton” for its international run, which included a Philippine stop last year. She first landed the role in 2017. The theater star recently wrapped up the musical’s run in Singapore.
Go also played Gigi in “Miss Saigon” in the West End in 2014 and on Broadway in 2017.
Over the years, the 38-year-old theater star has won various awards including Best Supporting Performance in a Musical for Hamilton, Best Actress in a New Production of a Musical in the 2018 BroadwayWorld UK Awards 2018, and Best Featured Actress in a Musical in the 2017 Theatre Fan’s Choice Awards.
