WATCH: Ivana Alawi disguises as homeless person, gives cash to strangers on street
In another heartwarming “prank,” Ivana Alawi dressed up as a homeless person and walked the streets, rewarding people who gave her cash or food.
“Marami pa rin sa ‘tin ang mababait, marami pa rin sa ‘tin ang tumutulong sa ating mga kapwa (Many of us are still good people, many of us still help others). I will find you and I will reward you,” Alawi said in her vlog yesterday, March 14.
As part of her prank, Alawi smeared her body with dirt, wore tattered clothes and walked around different locations as she begged random strangers. The character she created for the vlog, “Inday,” was stuck in Manila and asked for money to get to her home in Baguio. Every peso that strangers on the street gave Inday was matched by Alawi with P1,000.
As shown, at least 10 people gave her food and money, but Alawi did not expect to be brought to tears by her last “prank” on a 58-year-old kakanin vendor named Joselito Martinez.
He gave money, food, and even offered to buy her soft drinks as they talked. Alawi was so touched by the warm personality of the old man that she could not help but cry as she handed him P20,000.

(I am all the more inspired to become a better person to help more people like tatay, they really deserve it… This was the first time I experienced something like that, where someone just talks about their life with you. It felt great.)
For her, the experience served as an eye-opener. She also stated early into the vlog that she meant well for impersonating a homeless person.
“Bakit ko ‘to ginawa? Kasi araw-araw, kapag lumalabas ako, may nakikita akong mga taong kumakatok sa bintana na nanghihingi,” Alawi said. (Why am I doing this? Because everyday, when I go out, I see people knocking on windows and begging.)
“It’s also rewarding the people who help out,” she stressed.
As Alawi explained, she wanted to experience the lives of the less fortunate for at least a few hours. She said she believes in the adage, “what goes around comes around” and encouraged others to extend help to those in need. JB
