Gladys Reyes disclosed that her father has undergone a major medical procedure after suffering from a heart attack earlier this week.

The actress, a self-admitted “papa’s girl forever,” said her father was recovering from a successful angioplasty, a procedure done to widen and unblock narrowed or obstructed arteries and veins to restore proper blood flow.

After the angiogram’s result showed that her father was not in good condition, Reyes “had to make an important decision” regarding her father’s fate in the hospital.

“From angiogram this morning to angioplasty now. I was called by the doctor to make an important decision after they saw in angiogram it doesn’t look good, since I’m the “panganay” (eldest) and my mama is a senior and not allowed in the hospital,” she said in another Instagram post yesterday.

“After consulting the family, I had to decide. Doctors explained the risks and I prayed hard. I know God is in control. Nakakapanibago lang wala kang karamay sa tabi mo (I am just not used to not having anyone beside me) because of strict safety protocols which I understand, I just can’t help to feel a bit emotional but I know I’m not alone, God is with me. From 8am til now that the procedure is ongoing, just prayers!! I have faith.. everything will be ok!!” she added.

“Our prayers are answered!! It was a successful angioplasty by Dr. Remus Batilaran, Dr. Miranda and their team. Thank you also to his [cardio], Dr. Rudolfo for monitoring my papa since day one. [Nine hours] of waiting and praying paid off! I didn’t want to leave because I wanted to make sure, my papa will see me after,” Reyes said.

“Thank you to these awesome people who gave me comfort and making sure I was ok. Thank you so much to all your kind words, encouragement from my family, friends who pm’d, even those I don’t know personally, sending DMs, I really appreciate it so much!!” she added.

Reyes then emphasized that “God is indeed in control,” noting that she did not know how she managed to surpass “all the rollercoaster of emotions being in this situation.”

She added that she was still grateful and prayed that her father would suffer no more complications and make his way to full recovery.  /ra
