Benevolent crooner has fallen on hard times

12:15 AM January 03, 2021

Benevolent Crooner (BC) used to organize programs that raise money for the jobless and the hungry. But times have gotten harder for the beleaguered entertainment industry, which has yet to fully spring back to life weeks after companies cautiously returned to work.

For Tinseltown’s “up-and-comers” and “never-weres,” however, income-generating opportunities have practically dried up. In his case, it’s been particularly difficult for BC, a boy band vet, to handle his business ventures’ mounting expenses—because people no longer spend as much as they used to prepandemic and, worse, the unpaid bills for utilities and employees’ salaries continue to pile up. What to do?

To keep his head above water, BC has since offered his “special services” to patrons who are “willing and able” to pay big moolah for his “undivided attention,” albeit for a limited time—and while BC is still playing catchup with his debts. Now he realizes just how challenging it is to be sitting on the other side of the fence. But BC has found a way to “diversify” and stay productive. Sigh.
