Aspiring songwriters will have the chance to learn from OPM icon and former APO Hiking Society member Jim Paredes through his online songwriting workshop this coming November.
Paredes, who has been holding workshops on music amid the pandemic, is looking for a new batch of students willing to “learn a life skill” while under lockdown.
“Hey Guys, I can’t believe it. Announcing my [sixth] (YES! 6 already) Online Songwriting workshop… You can join from almost any part of the world,” the musician posted on Facebook last Thursday, Oct. 22.

When: November 7, 8,…
The workshops will be conducted on the weekends of November, specifically Nov. 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 28 and 29.
“Each session runs for two hours. Student must know how to play guitar, or piano with some proficiency,” Paredes noted. The workshops will be held every 9 a.m. Manila time.
“Time to get out of your comfort zone and up your game. You will learn new chord patterns, new ways to write songs, lyrics, transposition, intervals, and a lot more useful tips to write great songs,” the musician said.
“Stop wasting time being angry, frustrated, sad because of covid. Learn a life skill. Grow. Get creative,” he added.
Aside from Paredes, other artists have taken to the internet to share their talents while the country is on lockdown. For one, Dimples Romana held online acting workshops of her own in the past months. /ra
