MANILA, Philippines — Viewers can expect the return of veteran broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez to free-to-air television as she is now part of TV5.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Brightlight Productions announced that Sanchez would soon be seen on her long-running magazine show “Rated K,” now called “Rated Korina.”
Currently, “Rated Korina” is being shown on Facebook. Previously, the veteran broadcast journalist hinted that she was eyeing to move to another network.
“As people know, I’ve been producing in Facebook digitally, pero iba pa rin syempre (it’s still different)if you’re on free TV,” Sanchez told News5 when asked how does it feel to be back on free TV.
“I know many friends who are [on] TV5, so which is like having a family again. [There are] familiar faces, people I’ve worked with all these years in journalism, broadcasting. Parang tuloy lang ang ligaya (it’s as if the fun continues),” she added.
Sanchez is one of the many talents of ABS-CBN who transferred to TV5. ABS-CBN has been off the air since May after it was shut down by the National Telecommunications Commission as its franchise expired.
In July, the House committee on legislative franchises denied ABS-CBN’s bid for a fresh franchise.
But starting Oct. 10, some ABS-CBN shows are set to return to free TV as the network forged a partnership with Brother Eddie Villanueva’s Zoe Broadcasting Corporation. The shows will be aired through the new A2Z channel.
Sanchez’s upcoming show “Rated Korina”, meanwhile, will premiere on TV5 on Oct. 24 at 4 p.m. [ac]
