Artcurial has announced that one of its fall sales will be dedicated to cult French actress Jeanne Moreau, who passed away in 2017. The digital auction will comprise items representing several aspects of the multifaceted star, who was a renowned actress, but also a singer, director, author and passionate fan of fashion.

The 300 lots offered by Artcurial capsulize the history and career of Moreau. Over the period of a week, a wide range of items will go under the hammer. Some are unique, never-seen-before items, while others are garments that belonged or were associated with the French cinema and fashion icon.

Many designer dresses and ensembles from her personal wardrobe will be up for grabs. For instance, the sale will feature a Chanel silk and guipure lace outfit embroidered with pearls and sequins worn by Moreau during the 2003 Cannes Festival. Another highlight of the sale is a pair of silk mules embroidered with pearls by Roger Vivier.

FEATURED STORIES

A wide selection of jewelry, film posters and 40 photographs round out the collection. Connoisseurs will recognize iconic shots of Moreau by Helmut Newton, Peter Lindbergh, Cecil Beaton, Slim Aarons and Agnès Varda.

The items from this 100% online sale will also be on display the same week at Artcurial in Paris. Proceeds from the sales will benefit the Jeanne Moreau Foundation, which protects the creative work of the artist, but also commits to making theater and cinema more accessible to children.
