LJ Reyes speaks up on how Paolo Contis helps her on self-care anxieties

LJ Reyes disclosed some of her realizations about self-care and how she manages the pressures of taking care of herself when she is also occupied with other tasks.
The actress and mom of two spoke about the need to learn to forgive herself whenever she could not find the time to work out or when she does stress-eating, all with the help of her partner Paolo Contis, as per her Instagram post yesterday, Aug. 18.
Reyes revealed that she has been “so unhealthy” over the past couple of months and she only began taking care of herself again recently.
“Nakakainis kasi (It is frustrating because) I know I should make time to do it, but what I didn’t realize is that it is also important to forgive yourself,” she said.
Reyes had to remind herself of Contis’s advice: “I have to be kind to and patient with myself. [I need to stop] being hard on myself.”
Contis apparently supports his partner in her lifestyle choices, whether it is going towards the healthier kind or the opposite.
“[He] always [appeases] me that I should also take it easy,” Reyes said.
“Dami ko daw ginagawa,” she added. “Pero ang [pinakaimportante] sa lahat ok kaming pamilya at lahat ay may tamang oras!”
(He pointed out that I do so many things. But the most important thing is that we are OK as a family, and everything has its own time.)

Despite the extraordinary circumstances brought about by the COVID-19 crisis, the actress said she will “definitely fight to be healthy physically and mentally.”
“[Para] sa pamilya,” she said. “[At] wag kalimutan na para din sa sarili.” (For our family, and do not forget, also for one’s self.)
Reyes and Contis celebrated their fifth year together as a couple last July. The two have a 1-year-old daughter together named Summer Ayana. Reyes also has a 10-year-old son, Ethan Akio, with her ex-boyfriend Paulo Avelino. JB
