WATCH: Gerald Anderson’s mom in tears after he surprises her with pickup truck
Despite the hardships of the pandemic, Gerald Anderson brought joy to his mom with a new vehicle.
The actor shared in his YouTube channel yesterday, Aug. 3, a video of his mom, Evangeline “Vangie” Opsima, getting surprised by a pickup truck that she had been asking for.
He admitted it was not sure if it was the “perfect time” to give it to her since there has been a lot going on, like the coronavirus pandemic and the ABS-CBN shutdown.
“‘Yong nanay ko isa sa pinakamotivation ko sa buhay ko para pagbutihan ang trabaho,” he explained.

Anderson was not available to personally hand over the pickup truck, a silver Nissan Navara, but her reaction was caught on video.
Initially Mommy Vangie was suspicious, questioning where the flowers came from and what the occasion was. But once she figured out it was all from her son, she turned emotional.
“Son thank you very much. I really appreciate it,” she said, unable to hold back her tears.
“It’s not my birthday. I’m very surprised RJ. I know you don’t have money. You do not make income yet… but I really appreciate it RJ thank you.”
Ever practical, Mommy Vangie said she would have preferred to get a multicab because repairs were ongoing at her house, but she remained grateful to her son.
Anderson previously had a house made for his mom in General Santos City, where she is from and where he was raised. /ra
