After expressing her refusal to join rallies, Alessandra De Rossi appealed to critics not to pit her against actress Angel Locsin.

Over the past days, De Rossi has been defending her choice to stay home as ABS-CBN stars and supporters have been gathering to protest the network’s shutdown.

Locsin, meanwhile, has been among those vocal against the shutdown and recently called out actors who have been silent about the issue.

Lahat ng sulok, narating nya,” she remarked.

“Bilib ako pero, hindi ako sya. May respeto rin sya sa akin na takot lumabas.”

(Please do not [pit me and Angel Locsin] I love her and my respect for her courage is not quite ordinary. To be honest, how can I thank her for all she has done to help the country? She has gone everywhere. I believe in her, but I am not her. She also has respect for me for being afraid to go outside.)

“Nakikiusap ako sa mga gumagawa ng gulo at headline. No!!! Mahal ko yan!” she said in another tweet.

“Kung may gusto akong sabihin sa kanya, itatawag ko [na lang]. Bat magpaparinig? Iba sya, iba ako. Iba laban nya, iba din sa akin.”

Referencing their characters in the 2005 “Darna” series, where they played rivals, she said, “Magkakampi si [D]arna at [V]alentina sa totoong buhay. I love you Angel ng lahat!”

(I am appealing to those who make noise and headlines. No!!! I love her! If I want to say something to her, I will call her. Why would I make insinuations? She is different, I am different. Her fight is different, mine is too. Darna and Valentina are on the same team in real life. I love you everyone’s Angel!)

Her comments come after her response to one Twitter user calling her to “make a stand” on Tuesday, July 21: “I respect everyone who fights, I respect everyone who shuts up, for now…till may (there is) covid.”

“And I will end it with the same statement, hindi ako takot lumaban (I am not afraid to fight). Pero takot ako sa nanay ko at sa covid (But I am afraid of my mom and of COVID).”

Locsin said on the same day via Instagram Stories, “Obviously, you don’t need to go out to use your voice for the voiceless.”  /ra
