Kim Chiu penned a heartfelt message to celebrate her boyfriend Xian Lim’s birthday yesterday, July 12.
“2020 is a tough year, full of uncertainty and worries. I just want to say thank you for existing!” the actress said on her Instagram page on the same day. She also included a series of photos of her and Lim together.
“Thank you for always putting a smile on my face, for being you and for never getting tired of listening to me,” Chiu expressed. “No extended captions just want to say thank you, always!”
The past few months have indeed been tough for Chiu. Along with the rejection of her home network ABS-CBN’s bid for a franchise renewal, she also faced criticism for speaking up on the issue before.
The actress immediately drew flak when she tried to explain the shutting down of the media giant in a classroom setting last May. After Chiu’s statement went viral, Lim defended her from bashers.
“Kim does not deserve to be singled out and get all the hate she is getting from people in the internet,” the actor said at the time. “She is a smart, empathetic person who deeply cares for all the people around her.”
But Chiu managed to make the most of her “bawal lumabas” gaffe, turning it into a viral song with DJ Squammy, selling shirts with “Bawal Lumabas” labels and using the proceeds to give food packs to families in need during the lockdowns.
The celebrity couple also currently stars in the TV drama series “Love Thy Woman” alongside Eula Valdez, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Yam Concepcion. JB
