The candidate pin that Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray wore in the competition ended its auction bidding at P250,000. The proceeds will be used for COVID-19 testing of underprivileged citizens through actresses Anne Curtis and Angel Locsin’s Shop & Share initiative.

The online auction for Gray’s pin began on June 6 and ended yesterday, June 11, according to Shop & Share’s website. Its starting bid was P20,000. A personal handwritten note from Gray is to be included with the pin as well.

“In December 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand, Miss Universe Philippines, Catriona Gray debuted the ‘slow-mo turn’ and Ibong Adarna gown,” the website stated. “The Philippines sash was secured over her heart with this pin.”

The pin is “of very high sentimental value” to Gray and she “wants to share its significance to another, to benefit her countrymen just as she dedicates her title of Miss Universe,” the website added.

Curtis and Locsin‘s online shop sells pre-loved items from celebrities in order to raise funds to cover the expenses of the COVID-19 test kits for underprivileged Filipinos.

The project originally began in 2009 as a way to help Typhoon Ondoy victims. Locsin and Curtis revived the project to “help flatten the curve” in the country.  /ra
