Aiko Melendez hit back at bashers who claimed that her photos were edited to make her look slimmer.

Melendez revealed the “pain and sacrifices” she had to go through to achieve her current figure. The actress flaunted her curves by donning a strapless red dress with a plunging neckline, as seen on her Instagram post last Saturday, May 30.

Melendez declared that she was happy and that she had been maintaining her figure after a procedure with plastic surgeon Dr. Eric Yapjuangco. She said she followed a low-calorie diet, going as low as 500 calories in her first month, and is also taking a weight loss supplement.

“Asan ang edit dyan (Where is the edited part here)?” she asked. “I really don’t understand anymore why some people can’t be happy, when someone’s just achieved her goal.”

The actress also appealed to the public to “give me a break” and explained that she was “too old” for editing her pictures.

“Nung mataba ako sabi nyo mukha akong nanay now naman inedit ko,” she said. “Hindi ba pwedeng? I worked hard for it? Hindi ba pwedeng [I] have gone through pain and sacrifices just to achieve my weight now?”

(When I was fat, you said I looked like a mom. Now [that I’m slimmer], I edited it. Can’t it be that I worked hard for it? Can’t it be that I have gone through pain and sacrifices just to achieve my weight now?)

“This is my body! [I am] accountable to myself and no one else,” she stressed.

“I am posting to inspire people who are struggling with their weight. That there is (sic) ways and hope for all of them,” she said.

After nine years of being a Kapamilya, Melendez left TV network ABS-CBN for its rival GMA-7 in March 2019. NVG
