Aiko Melendez leaves ABS-CBN after 9 years
After nine years, actress Aiko Melendez has left ABS-CBN for rival network GMA 7.
Melendez expressed her gratitude to ABS-CBN recently, which has been her home for almost a decade. It was where she honed her craft and truly grew as an actress, after all.
“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa [channel] 2 sa 9 years na [opportunity] na binigay nyo sa akin na makapag work dahil dito ako nag grow bilang isang actress at hindi ko mararating kung ano ako ngayon kundi dahil sa kanila,” said Melendez via Instagram on May 22.
(I would like to thank channel 2 for the nine years they gave me; this is where I grew as an actress and I would not be here today if it were not for them.)

(I’m thankful for the new blessing GMA 7 has given me. The world of show biz is small, which is why I know in my heart that I would still be able to work for ABS-CBN in the future.)
Melendez is looking forward to her new role in GMA 7’s afternoon soap “Prima Donnas.” Melendez stars with actor Wendell Ramos on the show, which will be directed by veteran actress Gina Alajar. /ra
