Gerald on acting: It gave me sanity and saved my life
Gerald Anderson shares how acting has helped shape his personality and, eventually, his life.
“Acting became a way of release for me,” says Gerald, whose entry to show biz was via the reality talent search “Pinoy Big Brother Teens” in 2006.
“Despite what’s happening to me outside the set, even though my reputation and personality are already being attacked, acting has always been a form of escape,” says the actor.
Only last year, Gerald had been bashed for allegedly cheating on his girlfriend at that time, actress Bea Alonzo, with his “Between Maybes” costar Julia Barretto; something which he repeatedly denied.
“When I’m on the set, I consider it a place where I can offer my 100 percent; it’s a platform where I can vent out my frustrations,” says the star of the action-drama series “A Soldier’s Heart.” “It’s where all the pain go away. Acting, in a way, gave me sanity. It saved my life. That’s how important it is to me.” —Marinel Cruz
