Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez will be putting their North American concert tour on hold due to the global COVID-19 crisis.

Cuneta broke the news of the postponement of the duo’s “Iconic” concert tour via her Instagram account yesterday, May 20.

“After lots of thought and consideration for all involved in our upcoming concerts (the traveling entourage and our beloved audiences) we sadly decided that we have to postpone ‘ICONIC’ THE NORTH AMERICAN TOUR originally due to begin this May 2020,” the advisory read.

“We hope that we have your full understanding and pray that life gets back to normal very soon,” it added.

Cuneta tagged Velasquez and the latter’s family in her post, namely Velasquez’s husband Ogie Alcasid and sister Cacai Mitra. Fans are encouraged to stay updated via the perfomers’ social media pages as the concert will be rescheduled “as soon as it is safe to do so for all.”

Tickets that have already been purchased will be valid for the tour’s rescheduled dates, according to the advisory.

The longtime friends bagged the Best Collaboration Award for their “Iconic” concert during the 32nd Annual Aliw Awards in December last year. Velasquez also won the Entertainer of the Year Award at the same ceremony.

The Megastar donated P1 million last April for Velasquez’s birthday fundraiser, set to benefit social welfare program Bantay Bata 163. Cuneta also recently raised over P2 million for families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. JB
