WATCH: ‘Community’ cast reunites for virtual table read, COVID-19 fundraiser
The cast of the star-studded NBC sitcom “Community” has reunited for a virtual table read to raise funds for COVID-19 relief efforts.
The table read for season five, episode four, titled “Cooperative Polygraphy”, was attended by Joel McHale (Jeff Winger), Donald Glover (Troy Barnes), Danny Pudi (Abed Nadir), Ken Jeong (Ben Chang), Alison Brie (Annie Edison), Gillian Jacobs (Britta Perry), Yvette Nicole Brown (Shirley Bennet) and Jim Rash (Dean Craig Pelton).
Creator Dan Harmon and “The Mandalorian” star Pedro Pascal joined the cast for the fundraising event, with Harmon reading the script’s sluglines and actions while Pascal takes over the role of Mr. Stone, who was originally played by Walton Goggins in the episode.
The video, titled “The Cast of Community Reunites for Table Read”, was uploaded on Community’s official YouTube channel yesterday, May 19, and is labeled on the platform as a fundraiser.
The rest of the ensemble reprised their own roles while Academy Award winner Rash played Mara, the “lie detector lady,” as described by Harmon, rather than the eccentric dean as the character was absent from the episode.
Article continues after this advertisementThe episode tells of the events right after the Greendale study group attended the funeral of former member Pierce Hawthorne, who was played by Emmy Award winner and veteran comedian Chevy Chase.
The fundraising event was conducted to benefit World Central Kitchen and Frontline Foods, according to the cast. JB
