Musician Chito Miranda has found time to appreciate stay-at-home moms, especially his wife, actress Neri Naig, during this time of quarantine brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The frontman of the rock band Parokya ni Edgar talked about some of his realizations during this lockdown via his Instagram post yesterday, May 14. Accompanying Miranda’s message of appreciation is a photo of Naig and their son Miggy’s bonding moment while baking at home.

“One thing na na-realize ko during this lockdown is sobrang hirap pala talaga ng ginagawa ni Neri bilang [stay-at-home] mom (One thing I realized during this lockdown is that what Neri does as a stay-at-home mom is indeed very difficult),” Miranda said.

Miranda added that he loves spending time at home with his son, especially now that he is in a “long break from work” as a performer.

“Pero I must admit, sooobrang nakakapagod pala talaga makipag-sabayan kay Miggy day in, day out,” he said. “[Iisa] pa lang sya nyan a!”

(But I must admit, it is very exhausting to keep up with Miggy day in [and] day out. And there is just one of him.)

The singer-songwriter expressed that “Neri makes it look so easy” despite the fact that the actress has work and deadlines to meet in addition to the household chores such as cooking and gardening.

“Kaya ngayon, lahat ng pwede ko ibawi, ginagawa ko,” he said. “Gusto ko makapag-nap [siya] tuwing may chance. Gusto ko nagkakaroon sya ng ‘me time’ whenever possible. Pinagsisilbihan ko din [siya] hangga’t maaari.”

(So now, everything I can do to give back, I do it. I want her to catch a nap when she gets the chance. I want her to have more ‘me time’ whenever possible. I serve her whenever I can.)

Miranda stated that he has developed a better understanding of and a deeper appreciation for what Naig does. He also salutes all the moms and all mom-figures taking care of others.

Naig showed how she and her little “helpers” made homemade pandesals while the enhanced community quarantine is still in place in their area, as seen on her Instagram post on May 12.

“More bonding time with our family. Maraming pwedeng gawin sa bahay na sama sama kayong gumagawa (There are plenty of things that people can do at home if you work together),” Naig said.

Aside from tending to her vegetable garden and taking care of their child, Naig has also been busy contributing to COVID-19 relief efforts by distributing food and face shields to frontliners.  /ra
