Brian May of iconic British rock band Queen had to be rushed to the hospital after injuring his butt while gardening.
“I managed to rip my Gluteus Maximus to shreds in a moment of over-enthusiastic gardening,” May said on Instagram Thursday, May 7, posting a picture of him in a face mask and a video of him being wheeled in the hospital.
“So suddenly I find myself in a hospital getting scanned to find out exactly how much I’ve actually damaged myself,” he said.
“Turns out I did a thorough job — this is a couple of days ago — and I won’t be able to walk for a while … or sleep, without a lot of assistance, because the pain is relentless.”
The 72-year-old legendary guitarist has been spirited on social media amid the lockdown in the United Kingdom. He has been staging “micro-concerts” on Instagram, performing on his guitar on his own and with other artists over video calls. He, along with Queen drummer Roger Taylor and guest vocalist Adam Lambert, also released a tribute called “You Are The Champions” in honor of U.K. frontliners.
May co-founded Queen and is behind timeless rock hits such as “We Will Rock You”, “Fat Bottomed Girls” and “Who Wants to Live Forever”. He has also ventured into a scientific career and has a doctoral degree in astrophysics. JB
