Calida was said to have a hand in the network’s closure after he previously warned the NTC about granting a provisional authority to the country’s largest network while its bills on its franchise renewal remain pending before Congress.

In March, NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba told before House members that the commission will allow ABS-CBN, following the advice of the Department of Justice.

The NTC ordered the shutdown of ABS-CBN after its franchise lapsed on May 4.

“Alam ko po na mabuti kayong tao, kung ano man po ang inyong nagawa maaring tawag po ‘yon ng inyong [tungkulin],” Martin said of Calida.

(I know that you are a good person, whatever you’ve done may have been a call because of your job.)

“[Ganoon] din po kami napakasakit na isang araw na malalaman mo na wala ka nang trabaho at sarado na ang kumpanya na pinagkakautangan mo ng utang na loob!” he further expressed his frustration.

(We are good people too, that’s why it hurts that one day we discovered that we would lose our job and the company that we owe our debt to has been closed!)

Martin also apologized to Calida that whatever anger they may have said, and hopes that he would understand.

“Pasensya na po kayo kung may nasabi po kami na galit sa aming dibdib at sana maunawaan niyo din po ‘yon!” he said.

(I am sorry if we have said any words out of anger, and we hope that you would understand.)
