Actor Ryan Reynolds talked about the future of “Deadpool” potentially being included in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and his upcoming movie “Free Guy”, during his guesting in “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”.
The TV show’s host Jimmy Fallon also acknowledged Reynolds and his wife, actress Blake Lively, for their charity efforts amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The couple donated $1 million to food banks in the United States and Canada, as seen on the show’s YouTube channel yesterday, May 5.
Reynolds and Fallon discussed how “Free Guy” had to postpone its release due to the health crisis. Describing his new movie as a hybrid of the video games “Fortnite” and “Grand Theft Auto”, Reynolds said that it was his “favorite film” that he has ever been a part of.
Reynolds also mentioned that “Free Guy” was bought by Disney from Fox, which formerly held the license to X-Men and Deadpool as well. This prompted Fallon to ask if the worlds of Marvel’s superheroes and Deadpool can be combined.
“I see infinite possibility in either version,” Reynolds replied. “If Deadpool were to be in… the Marvel Cinematic Universe, rather. I think it would be explosive and amazing and what a sandbox to play in.”
He also added that this would be even more possible if Deadpool gets to continue to “do his own thing” and “be his own thing.”
Reynolds did not disclose much detail about the third installment of the superhero movie or who might be included. He simply hinted that “there’s a lot more story to tell.”
The two also discussed some of the jokes that are going to be included in “Deadpool 3”. Fallon said he “did not want to ruin” the jokes but that they were all “very funny.”
“You could fill a gymnasium with some of the jokes that got cut out of ‘Deadpool’ 1 and 2 that would get us all arrested,” Reynolds said in jest. “Or turned into some sort of Disney liquid.” Cha Lino/JB
