For couples separated by the quarantine—or anyone who wants to get creative with a camera—Gabbi Garcia and Khalil Ramos have revealed how they achieved their photoshoot over video call.
A behind-the-scenes video of the shoot posted on Instagram yesterday, May 4, showed Garcia doing her makeup and posing, and Ramos making use of objects and even people at home to serve as a background. The video was shot by Ramos’ brother Samuel.
For the tropical layout, Garcia curled her hair and posed with a straw against a wallpaper in her room, while Ramos gathered leaves and flowers to surround a tablet that displayed the actress on the screen.
The picture taken in the freezer involved Garcia donning a coat with a large hood, and changing her background to that of the freezer, which is a feature in video conference app Zoom.
The shoot involved no fancy equipment, but resourcefulness from both the subject and photographer to come up with interesting portraits.
Garcia and Ramos have been creative collaborators even before they became a couple. The actor directed the music video for her self-produced track “All I Need” in 2017, and the two starred in coming-of-age music-themed film “LSS” in 2019. /ra
