‘Ang Huling El Bimbo’ musical gets free online screening

If you’ve missed hitting the local theater scene while in quarantine, the rock musical “Ang Huling El Bimbo” will be available online this week.

The “original Pilipino musical” will be online from May 8 to 9 for 48 hours only, Resorts World Manila announced yesterday, May 2. Streaming will be done on the ABS-CBN Facebook and YouTube platforms.

Though access to the play online is free, viewers are encouraged to donate to “Pantawid ng Pag-ibig”, ABS-CBN’s program to help poor families hit hard by the enhanced community quarantine.

The nostalgic narrative of “Ang Huling El Bimbo” is based on the songs of the iconic ‘90s hitmakers Eraserheads. The musical chronicles the friendship of three students whose experiences in college change the rest of their lives.

Its two runs in 2018 and 2019 saw consecutive sold-out shows, while Eraserheads frontman Ely Buendia joined the cast for a concert in December 2019 and February this year titled “Ely Buendia, a Night at the Theater”. JB
