Vice Ganda did not mince words when he slammed a Facebook page that is using his name and photo while claiming to offer people money.

The TV host posted screenshots of the account on Twitter yesterday, April 19, and said, “Mga manggagantso (swindlers)!!!! Mga demonyo (demons)!!!”

The page, named “Vice Ganda Family”, offered to give away P5,000 to people today, April 20. The impostors insisted that the account was legitimate before saying they will transfer the money via Palawan Express or GCash.

They also asked those interested in receiving cash to send their name, address and contact number to the page. Aside from asking for personal information, the page also told them to share the post on their own timelines and to 10 groups, and to follow and like the account. The impostors then promised to message those who complied with their requests.

Following his post on Twitter, Vice Ganda also warned about the scam on his Facebook page.

“FAKE!” he said. “Mag-ingat po tayo sa mga fake news at mga scammer (Let us be careful of fake news and scammers)!”

Aside from Vice Ganda, actress Angel Locsin’s photos and name were also used by an impostor last month. At the time, the scammer promised to send cash and relief goods to others amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The two are among other celebrities who have extended their help to the frontliners at hospitals who are combating the spread of the coronavirus. Locsin had provided tents to serve as quarters for health workers while Vice Ganda donated N95 masks, gloves and other medical supplies to health centers. JB
