“Game of Thrones” star Kristofer Hivju has finally tested negative for the coronavirus after he contracted it last month.
The actor, who played Tormund Giantsbane in the fantasy series, announced on Instagram last Tuesday, April 14, that he survived the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“We are fully recovered and in good health after I was infected by the [coronavirus], and most likely my wife @grymolvaerhivju,” he said. “After several weeks [in] quarantine, and also a couple more indoors after [being] free of all symptoms, we are finally safe and sound.”
Hivju also noted that they only experienced mild symptoms of the disease.
“We send our love and thoughts to all of the people where the virus has hit much harder, and to everyone who has lost their loved ones due to the [coronavirus],” the actor said.
He then thanked his followers for their support while reminding them to practice social distancing, wash their hands and “take care of each other in this strange time.” Hivju revealed that he contracted the virus on March 17.
Months after the end of “Game of Thrones,” the actor was cast in the second season of “The Witcher,” which stars Henry Cavill. However, the production of the series has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. /ra
