The theatrical release of “Eraserheads: Combo on the Run,” a documentary film about the legendary OPM band Eraserheads, has been extended for an additional week, citing “persistent public demand.”

The extension was announced in a press statement on Monday, March 24, with its director Diane Ventura thanking the public for its “glowing reviews” and spreading “enthusiastic word of mouth.” It was originally supposed to be screened from March 21 to 23.

“The positive response and support have been overwhelming and humbling. I’m filled with so much gratitude. I hope more people get to see the film. I hope it does for them what it did for me. This is not just a music story — it’s our story. This is for all of us,” she said.

The documentary film tells the story of Eraserheads founding members Ely Buendia, Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro, notably their formation at the UP Diliman, growing fame, world tours, on- and off-screen working relationships, and break-up which stemmed from Buendia texting his bandmates “It’s time to graduate.”

Aside from interviews with its members and Ventura, it also contains soundbites from music executives, music critics, industry watchers, and fellow OPM artists.

The announcement came days after the four-piece band said they would hold their “Eraserheads: Electric Fun Festival” show at the SMDC Festival Grounds on May 31. They also hinted that a new song will be released although details are still kept under wraps.
