Singer Carol Banawa, who is also a registered nurse in the United States, will help treat COVID-19 patients there starting next week.
In preparation for her time at the frontlines in the fight against the disease, she received new medical equipment to protect her while working. She posted a photo of her in her new gear on her Instagram page yesterday, April 11.
“Just got word that I will be floating out of my home unit starting next week to train and help out other units in the next few weeks,” Banawa explained.
“Preparing for the incoming surge of [COVID-19] patients,” the singer-nurse added. “Grateful to receive this added protection just in time. Here we go.”
Banawa became a registered nurse in the U.S. back in July 2018. She finished her nursing program at the Northern Virginia Community College in May of the same year and graduated summa cum laude.
The singer is well known for her hits “Tanging Yaman”, “Bakit Di Totohanin” and “Iingatan Ka”. She is now based in the U.S. with her husband, Ryan Crisostomo, and their children Chelsea and River.
There are over 496,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the U.S., as of yesterday. According to a tally by Johns Hopkins University, the country has also recorded over 18,500 deaths. JB
