The nine-piece folk-pop band Ben&Ben has reached a new musical milestone by rising to the 29th spot at an international music chart, the Billboard Social 50.

Ben&Ben said it is the band’s dream to share its music with a global audience, as per its Twitter page yesterday, April 8. The Filipino band surpassed American rappers Cardi B, Doja Cat, among others on Billboard’s list.

Social 50 by Billboard is a popularity chart which ranks the most active musical artists on the top social networking sites around the world. It measures the global following of the acts, their website views and activities in steaming media.

“[Let’s] get there together!” the band said.

Ben&Ben first announced that they entered the said chart last Saturday, April 4, via Twitter, attaching a screenshot from the Billboard website. At that time, Ben&Ben was in the 48th spot, under singer Bad Bunny who was in the 47th spot. Pop star Lady Gaga was at number 46. BTS is currently on top of the said list.

The band has also been busy despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Ben&Ben recently released a new single “Nakikinig Ka Ba Sa Akin” dedicated to everyone staying at their homes due to the quarantine.

The band also held an online concert on March 27 to raise funds in support of COVID-19 relief efforts. The band’s crowdfunding initiative has raised P4.22 million, as of writing. The monetary donations will be used to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) and nutritional support to healthcare workers. It also aims to supply test kits and relief goods for daily wage workers. JB
