The hospital tents initiative, UniTENTweStandPH, spearheaded by actress Angel Locsin, has yet again increased its number of beneficiaries, since last March. From 28 hospitals, its benefactors have almost doubled over the past week to a total of 51 hospitals

Locsin’s best friend and fellow actress Dimples Romana revealed that the charity effort is now also trying to work out its provincial distribution, as seen on Romana’s Instagram post today, April 9.

The UniTENTweStandPH is a group effort of Locsin and Romana, together with Locsin’s fiancé Neil Arce and their friends Marev Matic and Gines Sarangaya, supported by volunteers and donors. The “Kadenang Ginto” star explained their initiative’s aim to battle COVID-19 by assisting hospitals.

“Ito po ay naglalayong magbigay ng more space para po ma-accommodate ang mga pasyente, whether COVID patients po ito or ibang pasyente po na nangangailangan ng immediate attention,” she said. “Yung kadalasan po na hindi mapapasok sa ibang ospital dahil punong-puno na po ang ating mga hospital ngayon.”

(This aims to give more space [to hospitals] so they can accommodate more patients, whether they are COVID-19 patients or others who are also in need of immediate [medical] attention. [Those patients who] are often can no loner be accommodated by other hospitals because all hospitals are full these days.)

Romana also expressed her gratitude to those who have already donated to their cause. The actress said some of them are friends from the industry who would rather be anonymous. Romana explained that the reason why their team tirelessly updates the public about the effort is to be transparent about where the donations are going.

Romana also said that once the tents are turned over to the private and public hospitals, they remain the property of these hospitals for future use. The tents may also serve as sleeping quarters for hospital workers.

Meanwhile, Locsin listed the 51 hospitals they have reached out to via her Instagram post yesterday, April 8. The “Darna” star said her team has been able to set up “95 hospital tents and 14 sanitation with misting tents” in these hospitals.

From P3.7 million on March 31, the fundraiser has garnered a total of P9.8 million, as of writing. JB
